UNION GROVE- The events of this year's Relay for Life held
in Union Grove have officially wrapped up. Union Grove's
Relay for Life raised over $39,000 for the American Cancer
Society.
Part of the success came from
Community State Bank's Relay for Life Team who once again went
above and beyond to raise over $7,700 through a series of
bake sales, candy sales, luncheons, and fundraising!
The event was held Friday, June 1st and Saturday, June 2nd. The
theme this year was "Aiming for a Cure in 007". Despite
an early evening detour to the high school gym to avoid the thunder & lightning,
Union Grove's Relay for LIfe was very successful. Individually
Community State Bank did great! The Bank had team members walking
throughout the 16 hour event; and the "James Bond 007" themed
campsite won the top campsite award.
Here are some highlights from this year:
What is Relay for Life?
Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to
celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs
of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of
people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns
walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one
team member on the track at all times.
