In 1898 the first bank in Union Grove
was established in a small brick building located on the southwest
corner of the lot where the Chartier Hotel now stands. The bank
was incorporated in September 1903. When the state charter was
granted, the bank was located in a two-story frame building at
1023 Main Street. In May of 1923, the bank moved to an impressive
stone building across Main Street. A new location was needed by
1969 and the building at the corner of 12th and Main was constructed.
In 1979 that building doubled in size as a new addition was added.
As our customer base and number of employees grew, so did our
need for a larger facility. In 1996, a new two-story office was
built on the corner of Hwy. 11 and 45.
Twenty years ago, Community
State Bank was approximately a $20 million bank and since that
time has grown into a $255 million corporation with nine offices
primarily serving the communities of western Racine & Kenosha
counties. We have locations in Union Grove, Kansasville, Rochester,
Sturtevant, Mount Pleasant, Waterford, Burlington and Paddock
Lake (Kenosha County).
Our "community-first" approach
toward banking is what gave Community State Bank the strength
and stamina to survive in an age where the banking industry continues
to consolidate. Resources are invested back into the markets that
we serve, and all credit decisions are made locally. This simple
mission has allowed Community State Bank to experience many years
of consistent, positive growth.
